The short version
We use the minimum cookies needed to run the site and understand what readers use. Non-essential cookies only load after you accept, and you can change your choice at any time from the cookie control in our consent bar or in your browser.
Categories we set
- Strictly necessary: sign-in state, form security, load balancing, consent memory. Cannot be switched off.
- Performance and analytics: how many readers open a guide, which sections are read, and which devices are used, in aggregate.
- Functional: preferences such as consent choice, language or display options.
- Advertising: used by our ad partners to cap frequency and, with consent, personalise creative.
Who else sets cookies
Our analytics provider, our content delivery network and our advertising partners. Their use is governed by their own policies; personalised advertising can be limited at adssettings.google.com, optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
Embedded media (a video, a map, a recipe widget) may set cookies when you interact with it; we load embeds after consent wherever the platform supports it.
Managing or removing them
Blocking cookies in your browser settings works for all categories but may sign you out of tools and break saved preferences. Withdrawing consent stops future setting of non-essential cookies; it does not undo what was already stored, though your browser can clear it. Ask anything at [email protected].
